The Telecommunications Authority of Fiji (TAF) has made a significant stride in its operations by unveiling its inaugural Five-Year Strategic Plan for the years 2025 to 2029 at a launch event held at Tanoa Plaza in Suva. The event was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications, Manoa Kamikamica, who expressed the importance of the plan that is built around four foundational pillars: Regulatory Effectiveness, Service Delivery, Advocacy, and Financial Sustainability.

Accompanying these pillars are strategic enablers concentrating on People and Governance, Processes, and Technology. The overarching goal of the strategic plan is to bridge the digital divide, ignite innovation, and elevate Fiji’s status as the information and communication technology (ICT) hub of the Pacific region.

In his address during the launch, Kamikamica emphasized that this initiative showcases TAF’s commitment to fortifying the telecommunications sector in Fiji. He articulated a vision of a digitally connected Fiji, where all citizens have equal access to technological advancements and opportunities. The plan’s focus on regulatory excellence, improved service delivery, advocacy for community needs, and financial sustainability underscores TAF’s alignment with the government objectives of fostering a digitally inclusive and empowered population.

Chairman David Eyre remarked on the ambitious direction ahead, expressing optimism about executing the strategic plan and playing a role in the transformative change it promises for Fiji and the wider Pacific area. He noted that, with the backing of stakeholders, TAF aims to turn its aspirations into tangible benefits for the Fijian people.

Chief Executive Officer Prit Chand added that the strategic plan provides a clear and actionable blueprint for transforming the telecommunications landscape in Fiji. This roadmap not only highlights the vision for a connected Fiji but also guides TAF in making informed decisions that align with long-term goals, allowing for resource management, innovation, and adaptability to challenges.

This development in Fiji’s telecommunications landscape holds promise for enhancing accessibility and technological growth within the region, bringing hope for a more connected and resourceful future for all citizens.

In summary, TAF’s Five-Year Strategic Plan signifies a remarkable commitment to fostering a digitally inclusive Fiji, with important implications for service delivery, regulatory effectiveness, and community advocacy. The collaboration among key stakeholders is crucial to the successful realization of these ambitions.
