Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica announced that the National Development Plan (NDP) will guide Fiji’s development over the next five years and establish a foundation for the next 25 years.
Kamikamica described the NDP 2025-2029 as a crucial document that underscores the Government’s commitment to resilience, inclusiveness, and sustainable growth, marking a significant advance in shaping the future of Fiji.
“Our Plan demonstrates our commitment to confronting current challenges and ensuring that development is advantageous for all Fijians. It serves as a roadmap for economic resilience, empowerment of the people, and good governance,” he stated.
The NDP 2025-2029 is organized around three fundamental pillars:
1. Economic Resilience: Enhancing Fiji’s economy through innovation and technology.
2. People Empowerment: Guaranteeing fair access to essential services and fostering civic participation.
3. Good Governance: Encouraging transparency, accountability, and adherence to the rule of law.
The Plan is in line with global and regional commitments, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent. It aims to position Fiji as a regional center for commerce and trade, capitalizing on its strategic location and digital infrastructure.
Kamikamica emphasized that the nation’s progress relies on the efforts of every Fijian. “Together, we will promote sustainable development and realize the Vision 2050,” he concluded.
