Fiji’s Bold Blueprint: A 25-Year Vision for Sustainable Growth

Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Manoa Kamikamica, has announced that the National Development Plan (NDP) will guide the country’s development over the next five years while establishing a solid foundation for the next 25 years.

Kamikamica emphasized that the NDP 2025-2029 is a vital document that underscores the government’s dedication to resilience, inclusivity, and sustainable growth. He described this initiative as a significant advancement in shaping Fiji’s future.

“Our Plan reflects our commitment to tackling current challenges and ensuring that development benefits all Fijians. It serves as a roadmap for economic resilience, empowering the populace, and promoting good governance,” Kamikamica stated.

The NDP 2025-2029 is organized around three main pillars:
1. Economic Resilience: Fostering diversification in Fiji’s economy through innovation and technology.
2. People Empowerment: Guaranteeing equitable access to essential services and encouraging civic participation.
3. Good Governance: Ensuring transparency, accountability, and the rule of law are upheld.

The plan is aligned with international and regional commitments, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent. It positions Fiji as a central hub for commerce and trade, capitalizing on its strategic location and digital infrastructure.

Kamikamica concluded by stating, “Our progress will depend on the efforts of every Fijian. Together, we will drive sustainable development and realize the Vision 2050.”
