During the launch of the Damodar City Labasa Hotel Brand, he revealed that the government, in partnership with the World Bank, is investing $200 million in the northern region through the Vanua Levu Tourism Development Program.
Gavoka noted that $61.5 million of this investment will focus on addressing growth obstacles, including improvements in transportation, infrastructure, and essential services, as well as enhancing private sector involvement. He emphasized that the government will continue to support initiatives that align with broader objectives, ensuring that the growth achieved is sustainable, inclusive, and advantageous for everyone.
Furthermore, Gavoka highlighted that Fiji’s economy heavily relies on tourism within the services sector, indicating the need for significant investment to boost this area beyond its current level of three percent.
