Fiji’s Blueprint for Progress: A 25-Year Vision Unveiled

Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Manoa Kamikamica, announced that the National Development Plan (NDP) will guide the nation’s development for the next five years and lay the groundwork for the following 25 years. He emphasized that the NDP for 2025-2029 is crucial, showcasing the government’s commitment to resilience, inclusiveness, and sustainable growth.

Kamikamica described the NDP as a key initiative in shaping a prosperous future for Fiji. He stated, “Our Plan reflects our dedication to addressing current challenges and ensuring development benefits all Fijians. It is a roadmap for economic resilience, people empowerment, and good governance.”

The NDP is built around three main pillars:

1. Economic Resilience: Aiming to diversify Fiji’s economy through innovation and technology.
2. People Empowerment: Ensuring all citizens have equitable access to essential services and encouraging civic participation.
3. Good Governance: Fostering transparency, accountability, and adherence to the rule of law.

The Plan aligns with international and regional commitments, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent. It positions Fiji as a regional center for commerce and trade, utilizing its strategic location and developing digital infrastructure.

Kamikamica concluded by noting that the success of this initiative relies on the collective effort of all Fijians, stating, “Together, we will drive sustainable development and achieve the Vision 2050.”
