Fiji’s Blueprint for a Resilient Future: Unveiling the National Development Plan

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica has announced that the National Development Plan (NDP) will guide Fiji’s growth over the next five years and lay the groundwork for the next 25 years.

Kamikamica emphasized that the NDP 2025-2029 is a vital document that demonstrates the government’s commitment to resilience, inclusiveness, and sustainable growth. He described this initiative as an important milestone in shaping the future of Fiji.

“Our Plan reflects our commitment to tackling current challenges and ensuring that development benefits all Fijians. It serves as a roadmap for economic resilience, people empowerment, and good governance,” he stated.

The NDP 2025-2029 is organized around three main pillars:

1. Economic Resilience: Fostering a diversified economy through innovation and technology.
2. People Empowerment: Guaranteeing equitable access to essential services and encouraging civic participation.
3. Good Governance: Enhancing transparency, accountability, and adherence to the rule of law.

The Plan is aligned with international and regional commitments, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent. It positions Fiji as a regional center for commerce and trade, utilizing its strategic location and digital infrastructure.

Kamikamica remarked, “Our progress will rely on the contributions of every Fijian. Together, we will stimulate sustainable development and realize Vision 2050.”
