Brent Hill, the CEO of Tourism Fiji, highlighted the significant impact of the recent $10 million renovation of the Beachcomber Island Resort on the nation’s tourism industry. The renovations are divided into two phases, with the first phase costing around $4 million and the second phase estimated at $6 million. The resort was previously listed for sale at $25 million by its former owners in 2020.

During a media conference, Hill emphasized the importance of such investments for the future of tourism in Fiji. He remarked, “This is exactly the type of investment and the kind of people or company we want to attract to Fiji,” underscoring the value of partners who are dedicated to enhancing tourism products and genuinely appreciate Fijian culture.

Hill lauded the new owners, Brendon and Mark Deeley, for engaging with local communities to respect traditional practices, stating, “We appreciate the great investment coming into Fiji. While properties like Beachcomber have been tourism gems, they had sadly declined in quality, which was evident in customer reviews.”

He expressed confidence in the Deeley brothers’ vision for the Beachcomber Island Resort, noting its prime location near the mainland deserves dedicated owners focused on its potential. Hill declared, “This ticks all the boxes we could ask for,” emphasizing Tourism Fiji’s strategic commitment to attracting the right investments.

Additionally, he assured that the expansion of the resort would create employment opportunities for local communities, potentially boosting the local economy and providing valuable jobs.

This renovation, a significant step forward, not only rejuvenates a beloved tourist destination but also reinforces Fiji’s commitment to sustainable tourism and cultural respect, signaling positive growth for the region’s economy.

In summary, the Beachcomber Island Resort’s renovations are set to revitalize Fiji’s tourism landscape while creating local job opportunities, reflecting the country’s ongoing dedication to enhancing its tourism offerings.
