Fiji’s Ambitious Roadmap: The National Development Plan Unveiled

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Manoa Kamikamica, announced that the National Development Plan (NDP) will guide Fiji’s development over the next five years and lay the groundwork for the next 25 years. He emphasized that the NDP for 2025-2029 is a crucial document that signifies the government’s commitment to resilience, inclusiveness, and sustainable growth.

Kamikamica described this initiative as a meaningful advancement in shaping Fiji’s future. “Our Plan reflects our dedication to addressing current challenges and ensuring that development benefits all Fijians. It serves as a roadmap for economic resilience, empowerment of the people, and good governance,” he stated.

The NDP 2025-2029 is built on three fundamental pillars:

1. Economic Resilience: Aiming to diversify Fiji’s economy through innovation and technology.
2. People Empowerment: Focusing on equitable access to essential services and encouraging civic participation.
3. Good Governance: Committing to transparency, accountability, and upholding the rule of law.

The Plan is aligned with international and regional goals, such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent. It aims to position Fiji as a regional center for commerce and trade by capitalizing on its strategic location and digital infrastructure.

Kamikamica underscored that the progress of this initiative relies on the contributions of every Fijian. “Together, we will promote sustainable development and realize our Vision 2050,” he concluded.
