Adult and Teen Challenge (Fiji) is moving forward with plans to develop a comprehensive rehabilitation center for families, according to executive director Reverend Hemraj Mangal. In a recent interview, Mangal detailed the initiative to construct four dormitories, which will expand their capacity to support up to 80 individuals in need of rehabilitation.
Currently, the facility has the capability to accommodate two students and has space for an additional 12. Mangal emphasized the center’s goals, mentioning their intent to establish a dedicated men’s center for individuals over 18 years of age. The construction will proceed in phases, with each new dormitory designed to house around 20 students.
In addition to the men’s center, Mangal expressed the organization’s aspiration to build a center for women and children, mirroring the approach of accommodating groups of 20 students per dormitory. He highlighted the potential for further expansion based on the community’s needs and available funding.
“Our commitment is strong, and we believe that with divine support, the necessary funds will come through,” Mangal stated, recognizing the pressing need for such facilities in light of the prevalence of drug use and substance abuse affecting many individuals and families.
Further demonstrating their dedication to effective rehabilitation, Mangal noted that his staff has participated in various training programs since 2014. Adult and Teen Challenge (Fiji) is part of the larger Global Teen Challenge, which has a presence in 140 countries and operates over 1,400 centers globally. This affiliation provides vital resources, training materials, and support to enhance the center’s capabilities.
In summary, the establishment of a new rehabilitation center by Adult and Teen Challenge (Fiji) is a hopeful development that reflects their dedication to helping individuals and families struggling with substance abuse. With community support and funding, the project has the potential to make a significant impact.
