Fiji’s Ambitious Leap: From Middle-Income to Rich Nation

The National Development Plan (NDP) outlines Fiji’s aspiration to transition from a middle-income nation to a wealthy country within the next 25 to 30 years, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Professor Biman Prasad.

The Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is set to officially launch the National Development Plan 2025-2029 and Vision 2050 at the Grand Pacific Hotel tomorrow.

During the unveiling of Kimaya Fiji at Yatule Resort and Spa in Natadola last week, Professor Prasad emphasized that this comprehensive strategy aims to enhance the quality of life for all Fijians.

He highlighted that female participation in the economy, whether in the workforce or in leadership roles, would be pivotal for the nation’s progress.

“The Government has made it a priority to listen to the concerns and aspirations of all community sectors,” he stated.

Prasad noted the importance of consultation and collaboration with citizens, particularly those in the private sector and non-governmental organizations.

“We are pleased with our progress in this regard,” he added.

To foster a supportive environment, the Government has developed a program aimed at creating favorable conditions for businesses, workers, communities, and farmers to harness their energies, potentials, and innovations.
