Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica has urged all Fijians to take ownership of the newly renovated Ratu Sukuna Park, which had an investment of $7 million. During the park’s opening ceremony held on Monday evening, Mr. Kamikamica highlighted the necessity of preserving the space for future generations, making it a source of comfort and pride.
He noted that the park’s redevelopment is a significant transformation that mirrors the nation’s advancement and dedication to urban renewal. The upgraded park now boasts modern amenities, including a new podium structure, contemporary lighting designs, updated park furniture, a digital screen with surround sound, and enhanced landscaping that harmonizes hardscape with green areas.
Additionally, Mr. Kamikamica mentioned the new water feature that enhances the monument of Ratu Sukuna, creating a peaceful atmosphere within the park. He described the park as more than just a green area, portraying it as an oasis amidst the city’s hustle, where individuals can pause, connect with loved ones, and embrace a fresh start.
According to Mr. Kamikamica, parks like Ratu Sukuna are fundamental to the health and wellness of communities. They serve as gathering spots for families, play areas for children, and peaceful retreats for individuals seeking solace in nature.
