Fijians residing in Australia have participated in the Methodist Church’s annual conference for the first time this week. Approximately 40 individuals attended, including seasonal workers who have recently secured new contracts allowing them to remain in Australia for additional years.
Reverend Moape Siginisucuvinaka, the team leader from Griffith, Australia, highlighted that these workers have joined local Methodist church branches and have played significant roles within the community. He expressed gratitude for their active involvement in church activities, emphasizing the conference’s purpose of encouraging them to continue their faithful service to God.
Seremaia Raibevu, a seasonal worker and youth representative, shared that being part of the group has been a blessing for them. He noted the challenges of adapting to life in Australia, particularly for those coming from closely-knit community backgrounds in Fiji, stating that faith in God is their only answer to these challenges.
