Fijiana XVs Set for Thrilling Showdown Against Samoa in Dubai

The Vodafone Fijiana XVs aim to extend their winning streak in the WXV3 as they prepare to face Samoa in Dubai on Sunday morning, Fiji time. Head coach Mosese Rauluni emphasized in a recent Zoom interview that his team will approach the match with caution, acknowledging the strength of their Pacific rivals.

“Samoa is a very good side,” Rauluni stated, recognizing their formidable forward pack which could pose challenges on the field. He noted that despite their recent win against Hong Kong, China, the team remains focused and determined as they continue in the competition.

Samoa, coming off a defeat in their opening match, will be eager for a victory, and Rauluni insists his team will not underestimate them. To counter Samoa’s physicality, the Fijiana XVs will field six forwards and two backs on the bench, aiming for aggression at the breakdown and adherence to their game plan.

Rauluni also mentioned that some players are dealing with injuries, which gives other teammates the chance to shine. The team is acclimatizing to the challenging heat in Dubai and is improving on areas pinpointed from their previous match.

The Fijiana XVs will rely on the combination of first-five eight Jennifer Ravutia and halfback Evivi Senikaviri to drive their offensive play. Captain Karalaini Naisewa anticipates a tough and physical contest, voicing confidence in her team’s commitment and ability to work together against Samoa.

Rauluni highlighted that past encounters with Samoa have taught valuable lessons, and the team is determined to perform at their best. The match is set to kick off at 2 am and will be broadcast live on Sky Pacific.
