The Fijiana XVs team is acclimating well in Edinburgh as they prepare for their Test match against Scotland on Sunday morning (Fiji time) at Hive Stadium. In an interview with SUNsports, Fijiana lock Asinate Serevi expressed that the players are adjusting and are focused on the challenge ahead.
“Scotland is definitely cold, but it’s been a fun experience,” she stated. She acknowledged the long and tiring flight, along with the time change and chilly weather, but remained optimistic.
The squad features five debutants, including three international players and two from local clubs. The newcomers are Penina Turova, Mary Kanace, Iva Sauira, Una Lalabalavu, and Loraini Senivutu. Head coach Mosese Rauluni noted in a prior interview, “It’s great to have the three international players practicing with us in Fiji. They have been in training for a few months and are blending well with the local talent.”
Several local players who debuted in last month’s matches against Japan have also kept their places in the lineup. These players are Salanieta Nabuli, Tiana Robanakadavu, Unaisi Lalabalavu, Salanieta Kinita, Merewairita Neivosa, and Atelaite Buna.
The Fijiana XV will take on an exciting new challenge as they head to the Netherlands for their inaugural match against the Orange Ladies. This eagerly awaited encounter is scheduled for Thursday, September 19, at the NRCA Stadium in Amsterdam. The WXV 3 tournament will include teams from Colombia, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Spain, and Kenya, with Fiji’s first game set against Colombia on October 13.
