Fijiana XV Shines Bright Ahead of Samoa Clash!

The Vodafone Fijiana XV team showcased an impressive performance against Hong Kong China, winning 38-3 in their opening match. This victory sets a positive momentum as they prepare for their next WXV3 match against Samoa, scheduled for October 12 in Dubai.

Head coach Mosese Rauluni acknowledged that his team was sluggish in the first half, conceding too much possession and several penalties. However, he noted some improvement in the second half while recognizing that minor errors still posed challenges.

Rauluni expressed satisfaction with the win, especially after recent losses to Scotland and the Netherlands, stating that the victory boosts the players’ confidence ahead of the challenging game against Samoa. He emphasized the need for strong set-pieces and improved physicality in both ball carries and defense.

Captain Karalaini Naisewa also praised her team’s performance and noted that the weather in Dubai would be similar to conditions at home. She mentioned the importance of addressing their mistakes in the upcoming week and acknowledged that facing Samoa would be a tough encounter.

The match saw Fiji taking an early lead with prop Anasimeci Korovata scoring the first try, followed by contributions from sevens player Kolora Lomani and Naisewa. Luisa Tisolo successfully converted multiple tries, leading to a 38-3 finish.

In addition, the national under-18 schoolboys team triumphed over Australia with a score of 26-14 in their opening match at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, with their next match scheduled for 3 PM tomorrow.
