Fijiana XV Set to Make History in Rauluni’s Emotional Farewell Match

The Vodafone Fijian XV will seek to accomplish a remarkable feat in their final match of the WXV 3 tournament against Spain in Dubai tomorrow, motivated by the fact that it will be their last game under head coach Mosese Rauluni. Rauluni announced his resignation on Tuesday following the Fijiana XV’s significant 45-17 defeat to Samoa.

During his coaching tenure, Rauluni guided the Fijian Drua to a third consecutive Super W Grand Final this year and steered the Fijiana XV to victory in the Oceania Championship, securing their spot in next year’s Rugby World Cup. He also achieved a historic first win for the Fijiana against Japan. His leadership has been instrumental in centralizing the program in Nadi, creating an exciting environment for both players and staff. Notable players who have emerged under his guidance include Atelaite Buna, Salanieta Kinita, and Repeka Tove.

The Fiji Rugby Union confirmed that this match will mark Rauluni’s final engagement before he relocates to Brisbane, Australia, to be with his family. FRU CEO Rovereto Nayacalevu expressed well wishes for Rauluni’s future, stating that the organization will soon begin the search for a new head coach for both the Fijiana XV and the Rooster Chicken Fijiana Drua teams.

The match between Fiji and Spain is scheduled to kick off at 4:30 AM and will be broadcast live on Sky Pacific.
