The Vodafone Fijiana XV team delivered an impressive performance against Hong Kong China, winning 38-3 in their opening match, setting them up for a challenging game against Samoa on October 12 in Dubai. Head coach Mosese Rauluni acknowledged the team’s sluggish start, stating they allowed their opponents excessive possession and gave away penalties in the first half. However, he noted an improvement in the second half, despite some errors that still created pressure.
Rauluni expressed satisfaction with the win against Hong Kong China, especially after recent losses to Scotland and the Netherlands, emphasizing that the victory boosts player confidence ahead of the tough match with Samoa. She also pointed out the necessity to enhance their fitness levels for the next match.
The match saw Fiji take the lead with Anasimeci Korovata scoring the first try, followed by another from Kolora Lomani, despite both conversions being missed.
