The excitement is building for the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup, set to take place in England. The Vodafone Fijiana XV will compete in Pool B, where they will face off against Canada, Scotland, and Wales. The complete draw schedule will be announced shortly.
The tournament will run from September 7 to October 28, 2025, featuring a thrilling array of matches. Alana Thomas, the manager of the FRU Women’s High Performance Unit, shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming competition.
“Being placed in such a competitive pool highlights the growth of women’s rugby in Fiji. We are ready to embrace this challenge and proudly represent our nation,” Thomas noted.
The Vodafone Fijiana XV expressed their excitement for the finalized pool draw, looking forward to competing in England next August. Thomas mentioned that this World Cup is expected to be a significant turning point for women’s rugby.
“We recently completed a northern tour, where we played Scotland in our first match. Although the outcome wasn’t what we desired, it offered us valuable experience with the Six Nations style of rugby,” she explained.
Thomas also highlighted the advantages of the northern tour, including the chance to travel internationally, acclimatize to different weather conditions, and adapt to prolonged touring, all of which can influence performance.
Following their participation in the WXV3 competition in Dubai, the Vodafone Fijiana XV have returned home and concluded their exit review. The team will take a short break before reconvening in November to begin training.
