Fijiana XV Ready to Make Waves in Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025

The Vodafone Fijiana XV is gearing up for the upcoming Women’s Rugby World Cup in England in 2025, having been placed in Pool B alongside Canada, Scotland, and Wales. The complete schedule of matches is set to be revealed soon, with the tournament taking place from September 7 to October 28, 2025.

Alana Thomas, the Manager of the FRU Women’s High Performance Unit, shared her excitement for the event. She remarked, “Being drawn in such a competitive pool is a testament to the growth of women’s rugby in Fiji. We are eager to take on the challenge and represent our nation with honor.”

Thomas highlighted that the completion of the pool draw brings clarity to the team’s upcoming challenges in England next August, calling the event a potential game changer for women’s rugby. She noted the team recently returned from a northern tour, where they faced Scotland in their first match, which, while not yielding the desired results, provided valuable exposure to the Six Nations style of play.

Additionally, Thomas emphasized the benefits of the tour, which included the opportunity to acclimate to different weather conditions and long-term traveling, all of which can influence performance.

Currently back from their participation in the WXV3 competition held in Dubai, the Vodafone Fijiana XV has conducted their exit review. The team will take a brief pause before reconvening for training in November.
