The upcoming Women’s Rugby World Cup in England in 2025 is generating excitement as the Vodafone Fijiana XV has been placed in Pool B, which includes Canada, Scotland, and Wales. The complete draw schedule will be unveiled soon, and matches will take place from September 7 to October 28, 2025.
Alana Thomas, the Manager of the FRU Women’s High-Performance Unit, conveyed her enthusiasm for the tournament. “Being drawn in such a competitive pool highlights the growth of women’s rugby in Fiji. We are ready to embrace this challenge and represent our nation with pride,” she stated.
Thomas also expressed that the completion of the pool draw has increased the anticipation within the team. “The Vodafone Fijiana XV are thrilled to know our opponents in England next August. This World Cup is expected to be transformative for the women’s game,” she added.
Reflecting on their recent northern tour, where they faced Scotland in their first match, Thomas acknowledged that while the outcome was not what they wanted, it provided valuable experience with the Six Nations style of rugby.
She noted, “A northern tour also allows us to travel to the other side of the world, experience different weather, and adapt to touring for an extended period, all of which can influence performance.”
The Vodafone Fijiana XV has returned home after participating in the WXV3 competition in Dubai and has completed their exit review. The team will take a break before resuming training in November.
