Fijian Teachers Association set to unveil $23 million headquarters expansion!

The Fijian Teachers Association (FTA) is currently awaiting the final valuation report for the construction of a $23 million building, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year. This new structure will serve as an extension of the FTA’s headquarters located in Suva.

FTA General Secretary Paula Manumanunitoga mentioned that the association has enlisted the expertise of local engineer and architect Ulaiasi Baivatu, who has already created initial ground plans for the new building. Additionally, property valuation expert Keni Dakuidreketi has been hired to assess the project’s financial requirements.

Mr. Manumanunitoga stated, “We are now awaiting the final valuation report from Mr. Dakuidreketi on the value of the yet-to-be-constructed new building,” adding that Dakuidreketi has verbally indicated that the value would exceed $23,000.

Discussions with banks have also been progressing positively, as three commercial banks have expressed interest in financing the project. Mr. Manumanunitoga expressed confidence that the FTA will secure the necessary funding for construction. He noted that banks such as BSP, HFC, Merchant Bank, Westpac Bank, and possibly the Bank of Baroda have shown a willingness to provide loans for the building.
