Viola Ravutubananitu, a year eight student at Tagitagi Sangam Primary School in Tavua, has distinguished herself as her school’s top scorer in the Fiji Eighth Year Examination. The 13-year-old achieved an outstanding score of 491 out of a possible 500, attributing her success to the unwavering support of her family and her faith in God.
Hailing from Totoya, Lau, and with maternal ties to Tavualevu in Tavua, Viola expressed deep gratitude for the encouragement she received from her family. “First and foremost, I thank the Almighty,” she shared. “I am happy and proud that all my hard work didn’t go to waste. I started preparing from the beginning of the year, staying up late to study and waking up early to revise.”
In a heartfelt tribute, Viola dedicated her remarkable achievement to her late grandfather, Aisake Ravutubananitu, along with her grandmother and parents. Reflecting on her grandfather’s support, she said, “When my grandpa passed away, I felt like I lost a part of me because he always supported me. But I thank the Heavenly Father for never leaving my side and helping me overcome my challenges.”
Viola also acknowledged her grandmother, Ro Vani Ravutubananitu, for her steadfast support, as well as her class teacher, Nazeel Ali, and the school’s head teacher and staff. As the daughter of a corrections officer and a homemaker, Viola has aspirations to attend Adi Cakobau School (ACS) next year. “I am interested in attending ACS because it breeds strong and independent women,” she noted.
Viola’s dedication and perseverance have made her a source of pride for both her family and her school community. Her story serves as an inspiration for all students, demonstrating that with hard work, faith, and support from loved ones, one can achieve great things.
This achievement not only highlights Viola’s hard work but also the immense potential of young women in education, showcasing hope for a future where they continue to empower others.
