The first cohort of Fijian Police officers in middle supervisory roles has successfully completed the Leadership Training program facilitated by the UK College of Policing.
The closing ceremony for the Central Division training program was attended by the British High Commissioner to Fiji, Dr. Brian Jones, who highlighted the enduring collaboration between law enforcement agencies. “This partnership will continue to grow and develop alongside your career progression, with elements of UK training influencing both specialized and leadership training,” he said.
The Western Division cohort training was concluded by the Director of Training and Education, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Serepepeli Neiko. He stressed the importance of sound decision-making based on best practices for officers of all ranks. “Formal discussions will be held at the strategic level, but operationalizing these outcomes is your responsibility. To effectively fulfill your roles in alignment with the organization’s strategic direction, you need the necessary tools to lead as first-line leaders,” he stated.
“First-line leaders shoulder a significant burden as they are expected to implement the strategic objectives of our organization. You represent the future of this organization, and it is our duty to prepare you for the challenges ahead. With the support from the UK College of Policing, you have been provided with the tools to enhance your professional development, leadership skills, and performance,” he added.
The UK College of Policing has committed to bringing its specialized leadership training to Fiji this year, with a particular focus on supervisors and middle management.
