Three hotel properties in Suva have successfully raised approximately $10,000 during the 2024 Pinktober campaign. The Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn, all owned by the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF), collaborated to generate funds that will be shared with the Fiji Cancer Society, WOWS Kids Fiji, and Cure Kids Fiji.
Throughout October, these hotels hosted a series of fundraising events aimed at promoting both hospitality and a noble cause. Guests had the opportunity to enjoy various themed activities, including pink-inspired cocktails, lavish high teas, soothing spa treatments, and the ‘Cup of Kindness’ coffee initiative. According to a media release from the Intercontinental Hotels Group, 10 percent of the proceeds from these events were directed towards cancer care and awareness programs in Fiji.
Lachlan Walker, the IHG portfolio general manager, expressed gratitude to all who supported the Pinktober initiatives. He noted the remarkable kindness and generosity displayed by guests, staff, and the community, highlighting how powerful collaboration can be when aimed at a shared goal. The distribution of the raised funds includes half going to the Fiji Cancer Society, with $2,500 allocated to both WOWS Kids Fiji and Cure Kids Fiji.
This inspiring campaign exemplifies how the hospitality industry can effectively unite for a good cause, creating a significant impact in the lives of those grappling with cancer within the Fijian community.
Overall, the collaborative effort not only raised funds but also raised awareness about the importance of cancer care, demonstrating the community’s resilience and charitable spirit.
