A vibrant business expo, the Adi Senitoa event, is currently taking place in Suva this week, showcasing local entrepreneurs. Nemani Saronicava, leader of the food business Crave Crazy Fijian Delicacies hailing from Namacu, Lomaiviti, emphasized the resurgence of these enterprises following the challenges posed by the military presence two years ago.
Saronicava noted that for five years, the business has been thriving, with its market space established in Suva. He mentioned that vendors at the expo have been active in revitalizing their operations to support their families, with their products performing well in sales.
During the event, food prices range from $5 to $20, responding to current economic conditions while ensuring affordability for local residents and business patrons. The vendors offer a variety of products, including fish, meat, taro, and other local delicacies, all sourced from local markets.
Among the featured items are Kokoda, pork, lovo, fish, and various other dishes that attract buyers keen to sample local cuisine. Arieta Ravula, a participant selected by the Fiji Arts Council, shared her joy in the business progress. At 61 years old and from Namata, Bau, Tailevu, she has been selling traditional crafts for three years and sees a promising market turnout.
Ravula highlighted the importance of community support during such events, noting that profits are significant, averaging around $1,000 from sales at these events. She expressed gratitude for having her craftwork chosen among many others, showcasing various handmade items including bags and accessories.
As the Adi Senitoa week progresses, both vendors and attendees are experiencing a positive environment that promotes local business and community engagement. The expo not only serves as a platform for economic growth but also strengthens the cultural heritage represented through the various offerings available.
