A senior female police officer is set to lead a 14-member team on a deployment with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). Senior Superintendent of Police Aseri Nakibo, among six female officers, will enhance the representation of women within the Fiji Police Force during this mission.
Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew expressed encouragement at the strong presence of women officers in this rotation. He urged the team to support one another, especially those embarking on their first mission, reminding them to seek guidance from their experienced colleagues.
As the officers prepare for their year-long mission, the Acting Commissioner acknowledged the expectations from their families. Joining this contingent is Assistant Superintendent of Police Shamiana Mohammed, a member of the Strategic and Research Unit, who expressed her gratitude for the opportunity.
“I feel both excited and a bit nervous. This is a big step for me, but I’m proud to serve and represent Fiji in South Sudan. It’s a chance to learn, grow, and help others in need, so I’m looking forward to it,” said ASP Shamiana.
