Two promising talents from the Fijian Drua Academy, Seremaia Salikoro and Sefania Naqama, are set to broaden their horizons as they join Tauranga Boys College, thanks to a full scholarship initiative that has emerged from the partnership between the Fijian Drua and the college.
Salikoro, representing Natabua High School, has been granted a three-year scholarship, while Naqama, a student from Sila Central High School in Nausori, will benefit from a two-year scholarship. The duo was identified as ideal candidates by Regan Ward, the First XV Coach at Tauranga Boys College, along with Senior Rugby Coordinator Aidan Kuka, following a week spent with the Drua.
Baden Stephenson, the General Manager of Fijian Drua, expressed excitement about the initiative, highlighting that it will significantly impact both players’ lives by providing them with quality education and an opportunity to immerse themselves in a new culture, all while participating in a high-level rugby environment.
Stephenson further assured that upon completing their scholarships, Salikoro and Naqama would return to the Fijian Drua, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to nurturing its players both on and off the field.
