The Fijian Drua has announced the recruitment of national under-20 players Breyton Legge and John Muller into the club’s Development Programme for the 2025 season. This programme plays a crucial role in developing talent for the main Super Rugby Pacific team.
Breyton Legge, a loosehead prop, has represented the Fiji Under-20 team nine times since 2022 and participated in the recent U20 World Rugby Championship held in South Africa. Expressing his enthusiasm, Legge remarked, “It feels great. I’ve always dreamed of playing for my country and competing in the Super Rugby competition.”
John Muller also contributed to Fiji’s U20 World Cup team in 2021 and was part of the Fiji Warriors that secured victory in the Pacific Rugby Cup in 2023. Additionally, he captained the Northland rugby team in this season’s local provincial competition. Muller shared his excitement about joining the Drua, stating, “It is a dream come true and I am very grateful for the opportunity to join the Fijian Drua. I can’t wait to start training with the team.”
Ifereimi Rawaqa, the Fijian Drua Development and Skills Coach, commented on the new signings, highlighting their development in Fiji Rugby’s High-Performance Unit (HPU). He noted, “Both Legge and Muller bring good depth to our props.” Rawaqa praised Legge as a quick learner with strong skills, while he described Muller as hardworking and aggressive both in attack and defense. He is confident that with further professional development through the Drua, both players will quickly ascend to the next level.
In recent years, several development players have advanced to earn Super Rugby Pacific contracts, including Livai Natave, Philip Baselala, Taniela Rakuro, Motikiai Murray, Mesake Vocevoce, and Sikeli Rabitu.
