The Fijian Drua is celebrating a significant milestone as two of its academy players, Seremaia Salikoro and Sefanaia Naqama, have been awarded scholarships to the prestigious Tauranga Boys College in New Zealand. Seremaia Salikoro, a student at Natabua High School, will benefit from a three-year scholarship, while Sefanaia Naqama, who studies at Sila Central High School in Nausori, has secured a two-year scholarship. Their talents were recognized by Regan Ward, the First XV coach, and Aidan Kuka, the Senior Rugby coordinator, who spent a week assessing potential scholarship candidates within the Drua program.
Baden Stephenson, the general manager of the Fijian Drua, expressed enthusiasm for this initiative, highlighting that the opportunity would be transformative for both Salikoro and Naqama. “They will gain exceptional education, experience a new culture, and thrive in a premier rugby setting,” he remarked. Following the completion of their scholarships, both players are expected to return to the Drua.
