Fijian Cabinet Takes Action to Address Budget Shortfalls

The Fijian Cabinet has sanctioned a second redeployment of funds within the 2023-2024 Budget to manage over-expenditures arising from the Ministry of Education and the Fiji Police Force.

A total of FJ$7.94 million will be reallocated from existing budget provisions to address these financial deficiencies.

This move follows a previous redeployment in July, during which FJ$105.19 million was redirected to cover additional expenditure needs across several government agencies and projects.

The reallocation of funds is conducted in accordance with the Financial Management Act, ensuring the government adheres to its fiscal guidelines while addressing unexpected expenses in these critical departments.

This financial maneuver underscores the government’s commitment to effectively manage its budget while continuing to support vital services.
