Fiji Women’s Team Makes World Cup History: Aiming for First Goal!

The Fiji Young Kulas are set to make their debut at the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup as they face Brazil tomorrow, carrying straightforward goals. Assistant Coach Annette Nainima expressed their desire to perform admirably and to secure their first-ever World Cup goal.

“This is a proud moment for us, for me, the players, and all the officials,” Nainima shared with OFC Media. “It’s our inaugural World Cup, and being able to share this experience with our families, children, and loved ones is monumental. No one ever imagined that the Fiji women’s team would reach this stage, and yet here we are.”

She added, “Our families back home are immensely proud of us and are eagerly waiting to watch us on live television.” Nainima concluded, “We are committed to giving our best.”

Fiji’s opening match against Brazil is scheduled for 11 am on Sunday, September 1. They will subsequently play against Canada at 1 pm on Wednesday, September 4, followed by a game against France at 10 am on Saturday, September 7, all in Fiji time.
