Labasa defender Unaisi Tuberi has been appointed as the captain of the first-ever Digicel Fiji Women’s Futsal team. The 30-year-old from Nadogo has a significant level of experience, having previously served as the captain of the Fiji Kulas national women’s football team.
Head coach Jerry Sam commended Tuberi’s strong leadership abilities, noting that her extensive understanding of the game makes her a valuable asset to the squad. Sam highlighted Tuberi’s performance during training, stating, “You can see Tuberi standing out during training, she has leadership qualities and can quickly organize herself and communicate with the players, which is very important in futsal. We need someone like that to guide the players.”
Joining Tuberi in leadership is Naomi Waqanidrola, a former Kulas player and current representative for Rewa Women’s team, who will serve as her assistant.
