The 2024 Corona Fiji Pro was officially inaugurated today by President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere.
During the opening ceremony, President Katonivere extended a warm welcome to the 12 women and 24 men participating from 12 different countries, wishing them success in the competition.
He recognized the organizers for their hard work, dedication, and investment in bringing the prestigious World Tour Competition to Fiji.
“Surfing, like all sports, is fueled by passion. In the coming days, we will come together not only to witness demonstrations of athleticism and elegance but also to celebrate a sport that represents the joy of riding the waves and the profound connection between people and nature,” stated President Katonivere.
He also praised Fiji’s wildcard entrant, Tevita Gukilau, expressing optimism that many local talents will have the opportunity to compete alongside international athletes in the future.
