The 2024 Corona Fiji Pro was officially launched today by President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere.
In his address, President Katonivere greeted the 12 women and 24 men competitors from 12 different countries and extended his best wishes for their performance in the event.
He acknowledged the efforts of the organizers, highlighting the hard work, dedication, and investment that were essential in bringing this World Tour Competition to Fiji.
“Surfing, like any other sport, is fueled by passion. Over the next few days, we will not only witness remarkable athleticism and elegance but also celebrate a sport that represents the pure joy of catching waves and the profound bond between humans and nature,” President Katonivere stated.
He also praised Fiji’s wildcard competitor, Tevita Gukilau, who will represent the nation, and expressed hope that more local talents will compete alongside international athletes in the future.
