The 2024 Corona Fiji Pro was officially inaugurated today by President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere.
President Katonivere extended a warm welcome to the 12 women and 24 men competitors hailing from 12 different countries, wishing them success in the tournament. He praised the organizers for their hard work, commitment, and investment that made it possible to host this World Tour Competition in Fiji.
“Surfing, like any other sport, is fueled by passion. Over the next few days, we will not only witness remarkable displays of athleticism and skill but also celebrate a sport that encapsulates the joy of riding the waves and the profound bond between humans and nature,” said President Katonivere.
He also recognized Fiji’s wildcard entry, Tevita Gukilau, who will represent the nation, and expressed hope that many more local talents would have the opportunity to compete alongside international stars in the future.
