The national coach of the Fiji Weightlifting team, Henry Elder, has stated that there have been no disciplinary problems within the squad. Elder made this announcement during the final day of the 2024 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships, which took place at the Vodafone Arena in Suva last Saturday.

He expressed relief, noting, “We had no hiccups, no disciplinary issues during this camp.” Elder highlighted that many coaches face challenges with athletes, including breaches of discipline, but the Fiji team managed to maintain order. He attributed their success to a strengthened spiritual commitment to God, mentioning, “We seek after God as a source of inspiration, strength, and guidance.”

In total, 24 Fijian weightlifters participated in the competition.
