After a relationship spanning over six years, Jiten Lal and Sandya Chand—originally from Fiji but based in Auckland, New Zealand—returned to their homeland to celebrate their wedding. The couple, who have spent nearly three decades in New Zealand, chose Fiji not only as a nod to their heritage but also as the ideal location to tie the knot.

Lal, who hails from Nausori, and Chand, who is from Nadi, met in Manukau, Auckland, and have been living together for over six years. Their decision to marry in Fiji stemmed from a deep-seated connection to their birthplace. “Fiji is our birth country, and we both saw it as a dream location for our marriage,” Lal expressed, emphasizing the joy of having family and friends from both sides share in their special day.

The couple praised the exceptional hospitality they received during their stay, particularly from the Novotel Hotel in Lami, which played a significant role in organizing their wedding. “Everything turned out so well. The venue was beautifully decorated, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and the food was amazing,” Lal noted. They also thanked various Fijian vendors who contributed to making their wedding memorable.

Lal encouraged those considering marriage to choose Fiji as their destination, praising the friendly and supportive service providers in photography, venue arrangements, decorations, and catering. “At no point were we let down by their service,” he affirmed.

Reflecting on the significance of reconnecting with their roots, the couple emphasized the importance of creating lasting memories with loved ones. They expressed their desire to return to Fiji for upcoming holidays and shared aspirations to establish a business in the country that would contribute to the local economy.

This couple’s enchanting journey serves as a reminder of the powerful bonds to our origins and the joy that comes from celebrating life’s milestones with loved ones in meaningful locations. Their plans to give back to their roots signify a hopeful future for both themselves and their community.
