Fiji Weather Update: Heavy Rain and Strong Wind Warnings Issued for May 12, 2025

Weather Bulletin
Good morning, Fiji! As we rise and shine (or maybe just rise), the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi has some news hot off the press. First up, we’ve got a hefty downpour of rain scheduled to sweep across the entire Fiji group – think of it as nature’s way of giving the earth a well-deserved shower!

Now, for our coastal friends on the eastern and southern parts of Viti Levu – from Sigatoka to the Coral Coast, all the way to Suva and Rakiraki – brace yourselves! A concert of strong winds is blowing through at up to 46 km/h, giving you a free wind-blown hairdo if that’s your style. Keep an eye on those rough seas, too; surfing conditions might just turn into a wild adventure!

What’s cooking in the atmosphere? A pesky trough of low pressure is floating around, throwing clouds and showers over the Northern and Eastern divisions till today. So let’s not put away those umbrellas just yet!

For your forecast today, expect some pretty spirited northwest to easterly winds – we’re talking a breeze that makes you question whether you should take off your hat or simply hold onto it for dear life. Rain will come knocking on your door occasionally, bringing some friends like heavy downpours and maybe even a thunderstorm or two – it’s a real party out there, folks! As evening rolls in, rain should settle down to mere showers, and those clouds are here to stay, especially around Coral Coast, Navua, and Suva.

For tomorrow’s weather forecast: expect more cloudy shenanigans with brief showers popping up like uninvited guests at a dinner party. The evening will cool down nicely; perhaps consider snuggling up with a hot drink!

Here’s what’s happening in your neck of the woods:

Navua / Suva / Nausori: Prepare for cloudy periods with a sprinkle of showers.
Outlook for Tuesday: You guessed it – more clouds and brief showers!

Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Cloudy with a splash of showers.
Outlook for Tuesday: Continued cloud cover with sporadic showers. Grab a sweater for those cool nights!

Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Partly cloudy with brief showers.
Outlook for Tuesday: Looking fine overall but expect some surprise showers later. Cool at night!

Tavua/Rakiraki: Cloudy spells with showers over Rakiraki. Elsewhere, it’s partly cloudy.
Outlook for Tuesday: A fine day ahead, barring the possibility of brief afternoon or evening showers.

Natadradave/Korovou: You’ll see clouds and a bit of rain.
Outlook for Tuesday: More clouds and those cheeky brief showers await.

Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Partly cloudy with brief showers.
Outlook for Tuesday: Fine weather expects you, apart from potential afternoon or evening showers.

Labasa and Savusavu: Some heavy rain and thunderstorms are still in play but should lighten to showers today.
Outlook for Tuesday: Just clouds with brief rollercoaster showers.

For Kadavu: Expect cloudy periods with showers.
Outlook for Tuesday: Yep, you guessed it – cloudy with some brief showers and cool nights.

Rotuma: Strong winds are blowing across the waters, and we advise keeping a tight grip on anything that could fly away!
Outlook for Tuesday: Occasional heavy showers and good old thunderstorms.

So keep your raincoats ready and don’t forget – if you see someone out with an umbrella while the sun is shining, they just might be ahead of the weather curve! Stay dry, Fiji!
