Fiji Weather Forecast: Showers and Thunderstorms Expected Across the Country

Weather Whirlwind

Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi
Time: 10:45 am, Monday, March 10, 2025 (or what we like to call Monday Madness)

Situation Update: A low-pressure trough has decided to crash the party just northeast of our beautiful islands. This means clouds and showers are set to take center stage, especially in the northern and eastern parts of the country, for a few days of aquatic excitement.

Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group: Pack your umbrellas and prepare for a breathtaking show! Expect showers and that thrilling sound of thunder over the Northern Division, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups. Meanwhile, in the Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, Yasawa, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, cloudy periods with occasional showers will be the highlight (again, bring those umbrellas!).

If you’re hoping for a bit of sunshine, you might catch some rays elsewhere between the isolated afternoon or evening showers. Just be ready for a thunderstorm surprise party in the northern and eastern bits of Viti Levu, where heavy showers may turn things into an aquatic fun fair with localized flash flooding in low-lying areas!

Brace yourselves for moderate to fresh southeasterly winds, which may gust dramatically just for fun! And don’t plan any yacht races today; the seas will be moderate to rough, so leave the thrill-seeking for another time.

Outlook for Wednesday: The skies are will continue their cloudy shenanigans with occasional showers and a splash of isolated thunderstorms over the Northern Division, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups. More cloudy periods and showers are expected over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, Yasawa, Kadavu, and those quirky nearby islands.

In places like Navua, Suva, and Nausori, prepare for cloudy periods with showers and the return of the courageous afternoon or evening thunderstorms! If you’re in Nadi, Lautoka, or Ba, expect to see some sunshine, apart from a few pesky afternoon or evening showers and those occasional rebellious thunderstorms.

For our sunny folks in Sigatoka and along the Coral Coast, stay fine with just a sprinkle of afternoon or evening showers.

And oh dear Tavua and Rakiraki, while things look fine overall, approach the afternoon and evening with caution as thunderstorms may roll in with some heavy antics!

As for the Yasawa/Mamanuca group, you’ll get to enjoy some showers and isolated thunderstorms, but fine weather too. Just a heads up—the drama is expected to continue on Wednesday with occasional showers and thunderstorms.

For Labasa and Savusavu, keep your weather eyes peeled for occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms.

And for our friends in Lau and Lomaiviti: watch out for those showers and thunderstorms doing their thing.

Kadavu is expecting cloudy periods with some showers, while Rotuma will be under the spell of a low-pressure trough, resulting in occasional heavy showers and a few thunderstorm surprises. The seas will be moderate to rough, so think twice before taking a dip!

Outlook for Wednesday: More of the same, just with a sprinkle of unpredictability thrown in. Keep that umbrella handy!
