Fiji Water Supply Disruption: Urgent Repairs Underway

Spread the love

The Water Authority of Fiji is set to shut down its raw water pipeline leading to the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant in Savura for urgent repairs. This action comes after a washout valve was damaged by a tree trunk swept away by flash flooding early this morning.

WAF Manager of Regional Operations, Samuela Rokovaleusa, highlighted that repairing the damaged washout valve is critical for ensuring consistent water production and the overall functionality of operations. He noted that considerable amounts of water are currently being wasted due to the malfunction, as it is not reaching the treatment plant.

The pipeline isolation is planned to begin today and is anticipated to continue through the night. Rokovaleusa warned that residents in nearby areas will face interruptions in their water supply during this time. He reassured the public that his team will work diligently to minimize inconvenience and complete the repairs swiftly, with provisions for water carting assistance available.

Residents are advised to make necessary preparations to cope with this temporary water disruption.
