The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is warning residents in areas often affected by high turbidity from the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant (WTP) to prepare for possible disruptions in their water supply. The heavy rains currently impacting the region are expected to substantially degrade water quality in source streams, thus complicating water treatment efforts. Consequently, there may be a reduction in water production at the Tamavua WTP.
The following areas are likely to experience service interruptions:
1. **Namadi Heights**: Mika Drue Place and Pathik Crescent.
2. **Bayview Heights**: Mead Road, encompassing Volavola Road, Evetts Place, Top Shop Road, Sawau Road, Yohann Place, Vuibau Place, Sam Lal Road, Paul Sloan Street, and Joyce Perks Street.
3. **Sakoca Areas**: Elevated regions along Lakha Singh Road, including Sakoca Road, Wrong Turn, Delaiveiruka Place, Raikiwai Road, and Nagatugatu Road.
4. **Tacirua**: Elevated sections along Tacirua Road, covering Raibevu Road, Tacirua Heights, Raisuluwaki Road, Nakoivalu Road, and Dokanaisuva Road.
5. **Tamavua**: Key locations include MH Superfresh, Upper Mead Road, and Princes Road from Twomey Hospital to Loa Street Junction, among others.
6. **Dokanaiisusva**: Areas along Princes Road from the Junction of Savutalele to the Junction of Khalsa Road, including Jeremiah College and Savutalele Settlement Road.
7. **Coloisuva**: Stretching from Joes Farm to Sawani Service Station, including Vunikawai Road & Naisogo Road and various local points of interest.
8. **Lami Area**: Upper Delanivesi Areas and crucial access roads like Rokodrawe Road and Nakurukuru Village Access Road.
WAF extends its apologies for any inconvenience this may cause, emphasizing the importance of ensuring a safe and reliable water supply. To reduce the impact of these disruptions, residents are advised to:
– Store ample water for essential household needs.
– Limit non-essential water usage during this period.
– Keep stored water clean and properly covered.
WAF teams are on high alert, closely monitoring the situation to mitigate the impact and restore full water supply once conditions improve. For ongoing updates and assistance, customers can reach out via phone at 3346777 or 5777 (across all mobile networks) or through email at contact@waf.com.fj.
This proactive communication demonstrates WAF’s dedication to protecting public health and safety during adverse weather conditions. By preparing and responding promptly, the community can work together to navigate these challenges.
