Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka officially opened the modern Air Laucala Hangar at Nadi International Airport today. Known as one of the most advanced hangars in Fiji, this multi-million dollar facility serves high-end visitors traveling to Laucala Island Resort for vacations.
This private investment showcases a strong collaboration between the resort owner, the government, and local landowners, aimed at enhancing guest services and supporting national development objectives. During the inauguration, Prime Minister Rabuka expressed gratitude for this significant private investment, recognizing its international standards.
He stated, “This state-of-the-art facility not only underscores our commitment to advancing aviation capabilities and distinguished guest services but also symbolizes our nation’s progress and innovation.” He emphasized that the Air Laucala Hangar represents a vision for Fiji’s future as a leader in aviation excellence in the Pacific.
The facility will improve aircraft maintenance and servicing capabilities, ensuring that aviation operations remain safe, efficient, and reliable. Additionally, it is expected to create numerous job opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and offer training and skill development, equipping the workforce with essential knowledge and expertise for the aviation sector.
Rabuka extended his thanks to all who contributed to the project’s success, including landowners from Nadi and Laucala Island. The hangar will also provide valuable hands-on experience for young engineers and technicians, nurturing the next generation of professionals to advance the aviation industry.
Kevin Abramowicz, representing the resort owner, noted that the project was initially envisioned by the late Dietrich Mateschitz. He explained that the facility ensures a smooth transition for travelers from both international carriers and private jets to Air Laucala’s aircraft.
Mr. Abramowicz added, “Along with reducing transit times and maximizing visitor comfort in the lounge, the hangar has been designed to offer a spacious and efficient working environment for our Air Laucala fleet management team, closely positioned to industry experts at Nadi International Airport. Our owner Mark Mateschitz is dedicated to Fiji and passionate about continuing his father’s legacy in developing the North and Fiji as a whole.”
