Dave McMeekin and Julie Hornsey from the Pacific Media Assistance Scheme recently conducted a two-day Mobile Journalism training for the Operations and News, Current Affairs, and Sports teams at Fiji Television Limited on July 15 and 16.

During the training session, PACMAS provided two Mobile Journalism kits, each valued at AUD$5,500. These kits included an iPhone 15 Pro Max, microphones, and additional equipment.

The training focused on the fundamental aspects of handling and maintaining the MOJO device, as well as techniques for capturing audio and video, utilizing creative camera angles, and enhancing subjects with background lines and imagery.

Following the training, the Fiji TV News team promptly began utilizing the MOJO kits.

The introduction of these kits has had a positive effect on Fiji TV’s newsroom, minimizing the reliance on cumbersome equipment and encouraging greater creativity in event coverage.
