The Fiji Tribe team of the Australia Football League (AFL) is gearing up to chase victory at the upcoming Pacific Cup in Brisbane, Australia, scheduled from November 14 to 24. Head coach Alipate Navuso highlighted the team’s dedicated preparations during the unveiling of their new training kits, courtesy of their sponsor, Flame Tree.
Navuso shared insights into their rigorous training regimen, emphasizing that the team has been engaged in daily practice sessions for the past seven weeks, with Sundays reserved for rest. The squad is composed of eight seasoned players who have previously represented Fiji in the World Cup tournaments held in 2011, 2014, and 2017. Additionally, there are nine athletes who have developed their skills through the AFL Fiji pathway programs, marking their debut in the senior team.
The roster also includes 11 newcomers to the sport, reflecting a blend of experience and fresh talent. While the team faces challenges in securing sponsorships due to the perception of AFL as a minor sport in Fiji, they are grateful for the support from their sponsor, Flame Tree.
