Fiji’s tourism sector has exceeded expectations, achieving a record of 929,740 visitors last year, which contributed $3.3 billion to the national economy, according to Tourism Minister Viliame Gavoka. Speaking at the Fiji Tourism Convention in Nadi, he noted that this performance represents a 4 percent increase over pre-pandemic levels, indicating that Fiji’s tourism industry is not just recovering but thriving more than ever.
From January to August of this year, Fiji welcomed 640,274 visitors, and Mr. Gavoka expressed optimism that the country could reach 1 million visitors by the end of 2024. He emphasized that continued marketing efforts, expanded air connectivity, infrastructure development, and a commitment to sustainable tourism practices will help Fiji achieve or even surpass this goal.
