Fiji Tourism Industry Set to Welcome Over One Million Visitors in 2024

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, Viliame Gavoka, has announced that Fiji’s tourism industry is prepared to welcome over one million visitors, surpassing the record levels of 2023. Speaking at the 2024 Fiji Investment in Tourism Summit, Gavoka stated that the country has been performing well, with the economy returning to pre-pandemic levels.

In 2023, Fiji set a new record with 929,740 visitor arrivals, contributing an estimated $3.2 billion to the economy. Gavoka emphasized that tourism remains the primary growth driver for the country, offering significant opportunities.

The Deputy Prime Minister also highlighted the government’s plans to attract investors by providing substantial returns on their investments. To support this, the government is extending the Short Life Investment Package tax holiday to those who acquire existing hotels and invest over $50 million in renovations and refurbishments.

Additionally, the government has increased its marketing budget through Tourism Fiji and is committed to implementing strategic reforms to facilitate investment in Fiji and enhance the Fijian brand.
