Fiji to Transfer Workers’ Compensation Functions to Ministry: What You Need to Know

To enhance synergy and efficiency, the Accident Compensation Commission of Fiji (ACCF) will transfer its responsibilities for workers’ compensation and school injury cases to the Ministry of Employment, Productivity, and Workplace Relations.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, announced this change during the 2024-2025 National Budget Announcement.

Professor Prasad stated that the ACCF will refocus on its primary responsibility of managing motor vehicle accidents.

He also revealed that $6 million has been allocated to cover compensation for workplace and school injuries.

The operational transition began on June 1, 2024, with approximately 1,200 claims files being transferred to the Ministry.
