Fiji to Make History by Hosting WHO Regional Meeting in 2025

The Cabinet has announced that Fiji will host the World Health Organisation’s 76th Regional Committee Meeting for the Western Pacific Region in 2025. This committee serves as the governing body for the WHO in the region, which includes representatives from thirty-seven Member States and areas, alongside Associate Members. The Regional Committee convenes annually to establish policies, oversee regional programs, review progress reports, and discuss new initiatives. It also adopts resolutions and makes decisions that shape the work of the Regional Office and country offices for the following year. This event will mark the first time an independent Pacific Island nation hosts a WHO Regional Committee Meeting.
