Fiji to Make History as Host of 2025 WHO Regional Meeting

The Cabinet has approved Fiji as the host for the World Health Organization’s Western Pacific Region’s 76th Regional Committee Meeting (WHO RCM) scheduled for 2025.

The Regional Committee for the Western Pacific serves as the governing body of the World Health Organization in the region. It includes representatives from thirty-seven Member States and areas, in addition to Associate Members.

This committee convenes annually to develop policies, oversee regional programs, review progress reports, and consider, adjust, and endorse new initiatives. It is responsible for adopting resolutions and making decisions that influence the work of the Regional Office and country offices for the upcoming year.

Notably, this will mark the first time an independent Pacific Island nation has hosted a WHO RCM.
