The Fiji Tech Summit is more than just an ordinary event; it marks a significant milestone in the technological advancement of the Pacific region. Isikeli Tikoduadua, chairman of DATEC, emphasized this point during his welcoming address at the Fiji Tech Summit 2024 in Nadi, which is themed “Connecting Pacific.”
Over the past two years, the summit has emerged as the largest technology event in the Pacific, facilitating connections with global tech leaders and establishing a framework for the region’s technological strategy, Mr. Tikoduadua stated. He acknowledged the hard work of the Datec team and global partners who have helped bring top-notch technology to Fiji and the wider Pacific.
“Technology is the primary driver of change in today’s rapidly evolving world. It has empowered us to connect, innovate, and adapt despite unprecedented challenges,” he noted. Tikoduadua stressed the importance for island nations to meet and surpass their economic and productivity goals, pointing to the ongoing technological advancements that pave the way for a more digital economy.
He further remarked that technological innovation is crucial for boosting productivity and driving prosperity. “The Fiji Tech Summit serves as an excellent platform to fast-track the digital transformation movement occurring in Fiji and the wider South Pacific,” he added.
Organizations are currently at varied stages in adopting digital transformation, and there is a collective responsibility to speed up this process, encouraging innovation and sustained growth. He also expressed appreciation for the vendors participating in the exhibition, highlighting their role in allowing delegates to connect and better understand the unique needs of Pacific customers.
Notable participating vendors at the summit include Fortinet, Lenovo, WatchGuard, ASI Solutions, Sophos, Vodafone, Dell, Microsoft, Dahua, Stonefly, Veeam, HP, Scale Computing, Ingram Micro, Jabra, ZAP, Targus, Eaton, Samsung, Newgen, Arcserve, TrendMicro, Onboard, and Proofpoint. The event, hosted by Datec Fiji, is set to conclude today.
